Cairns Community Touch League Finals Preview: Eight Sides Chase Titles at Barlow Park
The regular season wraps on July 19 with knockout matches set for the following weekend across multiple grades.
How we reported this

The Cairns Community Touch League finals open July 25 with 32 matches across six grades at Barlow Park on Severin Street.
The league expanded after a 2025 season that saw 780 registered players turn out weekly on fields from Cairns North to Earlville. That growth matters now because the competition feeds directly into state pathways and keeps families active through the dry season when school holidays empty other programs.
Local clubs and venues
Teams from the Manoora Magpies and the Whitfield Warriors both finished top of their pools after home-and-away rounds played at the Flecker Botanical Gardens ovals and the Edge Hill recreation reserve. The league office at the Cairns Sports Hub on Abbott Street handles registrations and draws.
Entry records show 920 players paid the $85 seasonal fee this year, an 18 percent rise from 2025 figures released by the Cairns Regional Council. The junior under-12 division alone grew from 11 teams to 15, with matches scheduled every Saturday morning at 8:30 am.
Spectators can buy $12 day passes at the Barlow Park gates or stream the A-grade final live from 3 pm on the council website; gates open at 9 am for the opening under-14 clash.
