Training runs twice a week at the Jack McNamara Sports Field in Woree, while the Manunda Community Centre runs parent-player workshops every Thursday evening. The Cairns Junior Rugby League expanded its program last month at the old airport site in Aeroglen, adding two new under-14 squads.
Club records dated July 5 show average training attendance now at 85 participants per session, with annual fees set at $145 for under-12s. The Edge Hill Eagles also noted a 40 percent rise in volunteer coaches since March.
These figures reflect steady investment in facilities along the Bruce Highway corridor and in inner suburbs such as Bungalow, where clubs share grounds with schools to keep costs down. Local leagues have coordinated with Cairns Regional Council to maintain lighting at three fields, allowing evening sessions through the wet season.
