AquaShield, the platform from Cairns-based North Queensland Cyber Solutions, began rolling out its latest awareness modules on July 1 to local businesses and households.

Phishing and ransomware reports have climbed steadily across Australia this year, pushing organisations to refresh training that actually sticks with users instead of repeating generic videos. The new modules focus on everyday family devices and small-office workflows rather than corporate checklists, matching demand from households that now manage work accounts alongside school logins and banking apps.

Local rollout reaches two Cairns sites

Staff at the Cairns Digital Hub on Abbott Street started testing the platform last month, while teams at the James Cook University campus in Smithfield have booked sessions for incoming students. Both locations sit within easy reach of the CBD and report growing numbers of staff who split time between home networks and shared office systems.

Figures released by the Australian Cyber Security Centre show a 28 percent rise in reported incidents for the financial year ending June 2026. AquaShield charges households $12 a month or $99 a year, with the first 500 Cairns sign-ups receiving free access through the end of August.
